Saturday i had the chance to dig in and around a privy from a 1885 home downtown chas, sc; which was being re-located to the rear of the lot..the owner was too happy to see some items saved from the old house.
I recovered a beautiful spoon and was hoping to get a sorta ball-park idea on a date? The makers mark on the bottom of handle reads: "racebrook silverplate". Was thinking about performing a slight electrolysis on the spoon..?! Is it safe too? This is a much newer spoon than what I'm used to pulling up in my old city..
It was found amongst a few marbles, late 19th century buttons, 1866 penny in horrible condition, and a SC state seal button that falls along the civil war era..thanks for looking
