I thought I dug an "aluminum" spoon earlier this evening but, another T-net member, Argentium, mentioned it may indeed be silver from 1840-1860 era. I inspected it further and found these trade makings and an inscription as well. Any thoughts on the manufacturer and can you guess the inscription? I think it may be National Silver Company out of New York but, I am not certain. Thanks for any help with the I.D. Peace. 016.JPG017.JPG
 

Nathaniel Smith & Co. seems possible. Late 18th/early 19th century.
I don't think National Silver Co would have the ampersand in there.
