Silver Spoon... easy come easy go!!!!!

found this baby today at a property that was built to be a bank in 1814 and closed down in 3 yrs. the family that bought the house was named Steven's.
The owner of the home is big in to the history of the town and her home. the initials on the spoon were of the first family that resided in the home. The spoon was 925/1000 silver and was manufactured by gorham in RI sometime after 1831 best i can figure out. The homeowner wanted the spoon and i tried to give it to her and she insisted that i take payment 45$... Th good news is I think it opened up another permission that we thought unattainable!!!!

Dude, your entering into some great possibilities. As much as I'd love to keep a spoon like that I'd hand it over in a New York second for more prime real estate to score even more cool finds. That being said I only have one twisted gnarly looking silver spoon to my credit after nearly 9 years of hunting. They certainly don't come easy and it's nice you let it go. Kudos to you for doing the right thing. Now go get some more of the good stuff!

Nice job finding such a great spoon with traceable history. I'm glad the lady who wanted it is into history, and really appreciates it. You know it won't be tossed aside or melted down, it's actually a cool item for her to share with others, and the way it was found....and yes lead to new permissions!
