According to whitmans Ancient Greek and Roman guide your coin is A.D 54 to A.D. 69 from The period of Nero. The word on the reverse Salus it looks like there is some dirt inthe picture covering some letters right below Salus. If there are the letters DD or NN. Then this stands for according to whittmans book "The health of Agustus and Caesar our Lords. But according to Whitman there are many different variations depending on the province the coin was minted in. The front of the coin should read Nero Caesar. I can see the caesar in the picture but can't quite make out the rest. There is a picture of this coin in whitmans book but it's in worse shape than yours. You should have the coin cleaned by a dealer so as not to hurt the coin just in case it is real. A dealer in these coins will be able to tell then wether it's real or not. The book also says that if a mint mark is found on this coin it is fake. Roman coins were not mint marked until the third century A.D.
That's all I can tell you and it's straight out of the book.

Laz check out todays finds, for more imfomation :icon_thumright:

i found it on page 2.
well not so sure if it is a contemporary copy. As i said there is no AVGVSTVS and only aureus had same inscription.
So i doubt that it is a suberatus but i think it is quite a modern think because you can find such mules this days regularly.
In NERO days you couldn't afford such mistake (making non existent coin) because death penalty was the only punishment for copy makers.

But still very nice find!
