Nice catch Moe and Joe.
Om is the sound vibration of the universe. It is the first sound made during prayers because it cleanses the air of negative sounds. It is the first sound Brahma made on creating the universe.

This sacred symbol has been adopted in the West to express interest in Eastern philosophy. It can often be found in Eastern-influenced clothing and jewelry.

no it does not have a shriners link * the shriners are part of the masonic order -- while you must believe there is a god to belong -- it must be monotheic -- one god only * and not more than one -(hindus believe in 3 major gods --bramha (the maker) vishnu (the god that watches over the living) and shiva (the destroyer--death) ----the masons are not a "religion" but rather group of religious men from various faiths who believe that men of faith working together can and do make the world a better place for all.
