A pleasant surprise at my local beach.
I hunt the wet sand with the Surfmaster PI and this location is strange. There's old sand piled up into small 4 foot tall berms and the surf washes the sand away. Usual finds are lots of clad, some on top of the sand. I pulled out a silver chain a few weeks ago and a Silver war nickel.....most of the finds are weird tool items and older clad.
Got this thin ring in dark gray with a missing stone. I knew it was Silver and it felt good in my pocket. It has "STERLING PAT PEND" stamped on it. I wonder if this might be a clue to it's age? It looks really old and not something in fashion for the last 50+ years. Any opinions?
Well finding one such ring (even dark gray) really makes my day. It was hot yesterday, even at the beach (heard it was 99). After an hour and a half I needed a bit of sit down on the dry sand. Ahhhh the sound of the waves breaking. a ten minute breather had me ready to go. As I tuned on the PI i swept the area I was sitting...a signal...there on the surface a bent gray piece of metal. I pick it up...yikes I was sitting on a ring. Now the strange thing is if I didn't stop I'd never had found the ring it was dry sand and I was concentrating on wet.
I cleaned up the rings....Arrrgghhh...bent and broke the sterling one. And the 925 one broke slightly on the design while I tried to straighten it out.
OK..so not the most beautiful rings I've found..but they are Silver and they are interesting. I guess I'll keep them...but are they "case worthy"?
Second photo has the rings placed on one of my little cactus that I'm growing from seed (another of my passions).
