Nice finds....Very interesting coin... although I have no idea what it is. :laughing7:

Thanks, I cant find much online but it looks roman/greek?

No idea on the coin , but looking at the inside of the ring - makes me think you might have a ring made from a coin - any chance for a closer
pic of the inside ?

Cant really get a good picture of the inside, sorry.

Here are three more.

Its a unifaced Lead Token. They were about for hundreds of years & near impossible to attribute to a maker or place. The only easy ones to date are those with dates. That being said, they stopped in the 19th C, so its 100+ years old. Its the first one I have seen with a horse & rider; its a good find, better than the ring IMO.

PS. I had a stonking coin today, which I will post later!

Thanks for the ID, both great finds for us today although I did hope the token was older with a man on horseback on it. Never mind though still happy with it.

What were these tokens used for?

Post up the stonking coin!

Interesting finds, the Lead Weight is just that, a lead Weight, this could have been used for many things, the closest match I could find in my book was one with horse and rider with spear, thought to be a Bullion weight. But the dates and functions are very hard to determine. The silver ring is interesting to, does it look to have a join, or is it cast in one piece.

They had so many uses it would take for ever to explain them all. Mostly started as farm tokens given to workers who brought back a bag of 'whatever' to prove they had worked ie. handed the tokens back at the end of the day & got paid accordingly. Then you had any type of shop or trade that was short of small change. Boy Bishop Tokens, Shycock tokens, hops tokens, mill tokens etc...

Just taking the photo's:thumbsup:

Thanks for the info. it seems to be cast in one piece although there is a line that goes around most of the inside of the ring so I am not sure.

lead weights are great items to collect, so many different types all very interesting, and not a great deal of information to be had, on a lot of them really.

Very interesting finds, especially the Lead Token! I've never seen such a thing. :icon_thumleft:
