Well there is nothing to brag about here...Myself and hunthicks decided to try our luck in another area looking for an early french settlement... The area was too perfect and had signs that the area was very old...It was a cold day but not as bad as yesterday...
Decided to post up anyways as this year would be my worst year in 10 years...but I just thought this silver plated 1876 Canadian LC had the neat factor, obviously worn around someones neck...Also this is only my second NFLD LC and this one being 1865 which I believe was the first year NFLD produced the LC. Other finds not pictured were a couple of fired musket balls and buckles...Sorry about the pics, the coins are actually in better shape then pictured....

That's neat! Never seen one! Thanks for sharing!

Well we didn't get skunked and checked off another field before the progress gets to it. And hey, it wasn't as cold as yesterday haha!

Two great recoveries. If I found coins like that it would be my BEST year ever. :laughing7:
Congrats,

That's a cool find, I like finding Canadian coins, we find them here in Detroit, the latest cool Canadian coin I found was a 1932 cent. HH

Since silver plating is hardly new, being popularized in around 1847, who knows when that coin was plated. I'd view it as a unique and interesting find, no doubt.

Def. Different. Don't think I've seen another.
You keep trying new places, your bound to hit a "rich" one soon.
Good weather next couple of days, but I won't be able to take advantage of it. Hope some do.

Nice score !

Yes but when your used to pulling out 1/2 dozen 1700's coins in a day along with musketballs and buttons, you would consider this a bad day too...:laughing7:

Cool find, Patriot! :) Metal detecting, like basketball, is a game of runs. You get hot, you go cold... lol.

I bet that looked some nice back in the day when they first plated it.
