Silver & Other Coins: 2 Roose's, 1 War Nickel, 6 Wheats (kissing coins too)

I found a couple of kissing coins yesterday. The kissing coins are a 1953 Roosevelt Dime and a 1946 Nickel, with a 1952 Roosevelt Dime and a 1944 War Nickel near by. I got 6 wheat’s too, the oldest being 1934. And I found one of my oldtime favorite marbles, the Spider.

This area is under demolition and preparations for development, but the crews aren’t scrapping much. That makes it hard to hunt, but during the workweek they expose more areas to hunt, so it's sort of slow.

Yes we in the great white north, get to watch all you lucky people in warm climates have fun out MD'ing. If I get my detector out one more time and clean it, the paint will come off. Then back to the closet it goes.

Those are some nice finds, but I am curious as to what setting you have for marbles?

Only 4 months till spring!

Hi Spiney Norma.
It would be hard for me to try to describe that because I using the Gold Bug 2 by Fisher. It’s primarily a gold machine but it works well on coins and relics if you take the time to learn what the machine is saying.

But if I was to describe it, it sounded sort of scratchy until I check the signal with the coil touching the ground. Then I got a fair sound. What really made me check the target further is that when I check it using the ID mode (iron discrimination mode) it gave a solid positive response.

As far as marbles and plastics when I check them in ID mode I get a + response and then dig. That's how I find them.






J/K. I eyeball them. You find lots of them if you hunt old housing that heavy equipment is ripping up the ground around. Every now and then I inadvertently dig a marble while digging a metal target. As a matter of fact, I dug the green clearly half pint marbles above like that.

Sounds like a worthwhile place to hunt. Nice coins. I haven't found a War nicklr in awhile.
