I found this rock in the middle of a field near the Ohio river. It rang up in the silver range of my Mine lab X705. It was about 8" down. It's shinny and has some weight to it. I thought it could be a glacier deposit or the native Indians which camped all around here lost it. So any ideas?

I am just guessing because I never seen a piece of meteor. But I heard they contain nickel. Does anybody know what I have?

Not silver. It would be oxidized and most likely black on the exterior.

Thanks for the info. Just guessing I'd say it's 1/2lb.
