Found this in a second hand store about a month ago. I thought it was kinda neat. brought it home and put it in my drawer and forgot about it . I was looking for something when i came across it again. I got to looking at it and found a sterling 925 fine mark on it . There is a curved mark on either side of the Sterling mark. I wanted to see if anyone new what it was used for? It might be a lid or a cap for something but I don't know what. It is embossed and about 2 inches wide. I could not find any other marks on it. How old is it? any help would be appreciated. Is there a way to get the dent out of it?

It may have been an art nouveau dresser jar lid, similar to this one:

Agreed. 1880s or 1890s most likely. Nice ID, creskol.

Wow! didn't think it would be that old. Really cool. Wish I would have know what it was for then. I could have maybe found the jar that went with it. It was at a place where everthing was in big crates and you just had to look through it all. maybe I'll go back and give it a try any way, you never know. Thanks for your help :hello2:
