Hello Everyone,

A little too cold and frozen ground left me longing to hunt, so I changed gears and went to Walmart to buy some bird seed; they sure are hungry this time of the year. Upon entering the store I noticed an older woman cashing in a jar of coins and sound of the coins mixing about sure got my attention. I think it took me 3 minutes to get the seeds and pay for them, all the while, thinking of the Coinstar machine. After paying, I made a “beeline” to the Coinstar machine located near the crowded customer service station; I didn’t care who or how many were there returning stuff. As I approached, I could see coins, some shiny in the return tray; reached in an stuffed them in my pocket and left the store. In the car I check my serendipitous find.

My Bounty:

2005 quarter, 1996 dime and 1973 cent all Canadian
1937 Mercury dime and 1962 D Rosie dime

Not a bad haul from a Coinstar machine…so I did find something today and the detecting beast is once again fed… at least for today!

Thanks for looking.

Treasure! The silver hound is fed.

Cool, still waiting for my first piece of silver in that tray!

Well played Sir, well played.

Always good to check those slot machines

Cha-ching! You know you heard that familiar clinking of silver in that reject tray! I haven't scored any silver lately at the Coinstar in our Kroger store, just a handful of green, crusty, half-stuck-together memorials..buuut, I was handed a '62 Rosie in my change from Horton's last week. I'm not sure what it is about that place, but it's been good to me, especially the $64.50 face value I scored there in silver GW's this summer. (It's nice to know the managers)... you've got to satisfy the silver thirst any way you can. Ddf.

i never have that type of luck. lol. congrats! i do find money on the ground all the time. found a $50 on the floor of the rest area one morning. several times i have found $20 other places, so I guess I am ahead. only new bills though. :dontknow:

Great score... I find about 4-6 silvers a year in coinstar's.... even 1 barber dime..

One time , in a Walmart, as I walked by the machine, someone even left 2 Mercury dimes on the top shelf, like they were foreign junk ... ??? LOL

Always good to check those slot machines

Tommy, I like the name you gave it! My luck would be seeing what I think is a gold coin in the slot, and it turns out to be a chocolate candy coin!

Here's a job description for maintaining Coinstar machines;

In the Service Representative role, you have the opportunity to use your great maintenance skills and ability to use hand tools to provide basic maintenance on Coinstar kiosks. In this role, you will drive a company provided vehicle on an assigned route performing general preventive maintenance, cleaning and minor repairs on Coinstar kiosks. This position requires the ability to use basic hand tools, replace parts and basic computer skills. This role also provides coin handling and transportation responsibilities involving using a specialty designed hand truck to pull/push coin bins weighing up to 600lbs from the kiosk to the vehicle and deliver them to a designated location.

Nice silver saves Professor. Sure beats digging in the frozen ground for them !

A nice little snack! Helps to ease the hibernation hungers.

i always check the coinstar a couple weeks ago i found a 1942s merc in the tray...nice finds

Well, somebody has to rescue those poor unwanted coins, right?:hello:

You are right Tommy! The best "slot machines" since you only win when you play!

I’m glad you don’t live near me, there would be no treasure left. You consistently seem to find good stuff.

Well played Professor!

Great sniper moves! LOL! Congrats! :occasion14:

I need to mount a camera that zooms in on the reject tray so I will know when there's something there. Guess that wouldn't be fair though...
