looks torched, sad that it was a silver. ::) :(

I could be wrong, by looking at the picture for a good minute or so, looks like the last digit of the half dollar is a 7?? anyone else see that? if so, it will be 40% silver. still worth at least $6.34. check the edge. USUALLY 40% halves will have a black rim since they are 60% non-silver(copper). I have 3 40% halves in front of me right now, checking the edges, 2 have that brown/black rim on the sides, and one looks like a 90% edge(which is actually a 1968d). Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone.I was pretty bummed to see such a pretty piece ruined. But I will hold on to it like I do with all of my other ones.I love to get them out and hear that pretty clanging sound.

I see what appears to be the bottom portion of what could be either a 7 or a 1.

looks like Kennedy grew a beard to me.

it would have to be a 7, because 1961 would be a franklin half, 1967 would be a 40% kennedy, and a 1971 is clad, and so is 1977. Nice job on the 1967 40%er!
