Did 2 $500 Brinks boxes of halves yesterday along with $670 worth of CWR's. I actually started an account at this particular bank just to get at the CWR's that were sitting in the vault and scored a grand total of 3 40%er's from them..... 2X 1967 and a 1968 was the total "haul"...... I didn't even get the thrill of "finding" those. That honor belonged to my brother who I have recently recruited to help me root through these things. (don't worry guys - he is a comic book freak and has ZERO interest in CRH'ing)

So, could I get some input from you guys about these Brinks boxes? What is the general consensus about their production? From what I can gather from they don't seem to produce too well. I know everyone gets skunked occasionally, but from reading the posts here it seems that the pickins from Brinks boxes is pretty slim.

I apologize if this topic has already been covered, but I am trying to seek out a bank that receives coin deliveries from different armored car carriers. Could someone name all the carriers and the different banks that are known to use them? I would really appreciate it.

Also, I don't have any local banks with free coin counters, so I have to re-wrap all my rolls in order to deposit them. Last night I perfected a method for re-wrapping the Brinks "shotgun" rolls. The right side of the roll has more paper than the left, so I work my way around the edge with a dull knife and peel back the paper, empty the coins, then wrap them back up. My brother was just ripping them open at first and forcing me to use the paper wrappers I had to purchase at the local office supply company. It's kinda tedious but like I said I have yet to find a free coin counter in my area.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any and all advice.

I have found an easier way to open rolls and then just tape them back together. If you hold the roll in your right hand with wrapper facing like this <, tear the top of the roll about 1/4 of the way down and rip in about 1/4 of an inch, the peel the top of the roll back and rip the bottom of the roll about 1/4 of the way up. It leaves the bottem of the roll intact and you and edge check them quickly. Rewrap the coins and take a piece of tape to it. Easy. Hope this helps!!

I believe that all banks use all different carriers, some places even have branch A who use CarrierA and branch B who use carrier B.. (branches belonging to the same bank, and Im talking branches located in the same city). As far as brinks producing, and other Carriers, I think this is a question that others cannot answer for you, it might be better for you to not even ask the question just to avoid getting "the wrong impression". I say that because I dont think there is a "general" consensus, I think all these questions you ask are 100% variable-depending on where you are located and what your options are. I had many of the same questions when I first started hitting boxes hard, and I had can tell you that there would have been no way to answer any of them correctly without going out and "figuring out for myself" so to speak. I know you probably dont wanna hear that, but just take my word for it, you are better off answering your questions by doing your own field research. One thing I can tell you is this, brinks is the best option I have for boxes, (as far as producitivity) where I am located. I hear many here on Tnet who are 100% convinced that Wells fargo, or brinks culls silver where they are... maybe that is the case, but I can flat out guarantee it isnt happening here, with brinks, or wells fargo for that matter..(my main pickup source). I can also give you this advice, dont buy your half rolls from a local office supply store, (unless they are less than 10 bucks for 1000 rolls). If so-tell me where. Cause when I first looked it was rediculous. I have been buying mine from Amazon, and am to the point where I am going to look to see if I can find them in more bulk to buy more at a time and save money. I can also tell you from my own expirience that you probably have an option or two at a bank near you who will take coin loose in a "coin bag". - You have to ask them, they usually dont advertise that. From what I have learned, bankers around here actually appreciate that more so than bringing them rolled coin because it saves them time and manpower. It is a good option that will save you time and energy, and the bank may actually appreciate you more by doing it that way, ask around.

good luck.

Chris.
