That is a match safe. I have one that came from an estate we were cleaning up. Still had the matches in it. Yours is obviously missing the lid and the body is split in half. Still a cool find!

Yea the Hinge was on it but when i told my friend to look at it he Broke it like a Moron and the Pin that had it together fell into a pile of Sticker Bushes. But its still a Nice Find..... Thanks for Looking

Funny thing is it came up as junk since it was missing part of it. Usually silver dimes come in at 77 or 78 on my machine and it was coming in at 64 to 68 and kept jumping... lol
