Detected an old park by a school and found this nice, heavy silver ring. I got kind of a funny signal on my MXT with an indication the target was at 3-4 inches. I dug out the plug and out popped this ring. I don't find much silver so I was excited.

Awesomesauce!!! I've only been detecting for about a month now. Still waiting on my first piece of gold/silver. WTG!

Nice ringy dingy!
I also run an MXT and have been MDing just over a month. May I ask what the funny signal was like and what your settings were on your MXT?

I was hunting in Coin & jewelry mode with gain of about 8 with disc set at just above "pull tab". The screen reading was vacillating between pull tab and penny/dime. It was a strong signal with no "break up". I try to dig everything with a strong signal.

To Gleaner1....I am not sure if it is silver, I guess it could be platinum? There are no markings on the ring so I kind of doubt if it is platinum. No diamonds, the ring is very heavy and non magnetic. It is cut into kind of braids and is woven into a rope like design and the top is knurled to make the metal shine in the light. I will post a better picture of the top.
One thing was a little strange. It was about 4 inches down past the grass so I would guess it had been in the ground for several years. When it popped out it was not tarnished at all. I thought at the time if it was silver it would have been a little discolored?

Nice ring it sure dont look like silver , it looks like tungsten the way it shines most tungsten rings are not marked and you said its non ferrous ?

Nice find!
Whatever it's made of, it's the shiniest ring I've ever seen come out of the ground. Keep us posted.

Yes, the ring is non ferrous. No mark of any kind tells me it is not a real expensive ring. It is a heavy ring....is tungsten heavy?

Hi :hello:

Ring problems hu ? ???

Generally any ring made of Silver, Tungsten, or Platinum will have a mark. :read2: Most jewelry that is not marked is almost always cheap metal of some kind. :read2: They hardly ever put diamonds with silver too. :read2: I'm going to have to say this is a costume jewelry piece and not made of any precious metals, sorry. :dontknow:

Still good to find a ring !! :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

Keep @ it and HH !! :D ;D
