Dug this Sunday morning in an area that I've pulled early American and Canadian coins up to modern clad. The elk has red eyes and tests positive for silver although it is not marked. It is a rivet, not a pin (i.e., not a removeable back). There is no writing on it. Any thoughts? I'm clueless. Maybe from a leather handbag strap?

Maybe it has something to do with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. I have no idea but that is a neat find...d2
