I dug this guy up today. Of course I broke the post off. The post is stamped 925. And also looks like HA. Even with a 10x loupe it's so small and hard to make out

Any idea on what the stone is ? It is jet black. No transparency Feels unusually heavy if that helps

So looking for what the black stone is and also what the hallmark is?

Maybe Black Onyx. The specific gravity is one way to narrow it down.

The stone is either Jet or Black Onyx. My guess... Jet.
It is not an expensive stone by any means.
Sterling settings usually do not "house" expensive stones. 95% of time
