Silver earring help

I dug this guy up today. Of course I broke the post off. The post is stamped 925. And also looks like HA. Even with a 10x loupe it's so small and hard to make out

Any idea on what the stone is ? It is jet black. No transparency Feels unusually heavy if that helps

So looking for what the black stone is and also what the hallmark is?

Maybe Black Onyx. The specific gravity is one way to narrow it down.

Specific gravity	2.65–2.667

If the post was marked .925 as you described then it's a pretty fair bet that it's 'Sterling'.
I'd spend $20 in a silver / gold acid test kit from eBay, that way you'll know for sure!

The stone is either Jet or Black Onyx. My guess... Jet.
It is not an expensive stone by any means.
Sterling settings usually do not "house" expensive stones. 95% of time
