About to send in my DFX, the 6x9" coil has crapped out, and Whites needs me to send in the coil as well as the detector. So I'll be back to using old faithful, my old Silver Eagle. It has had this problem for years, when I'm running it, suddenly the LCD screen will either go blank, or start showing what I like to refer it to as hieroglyphics. (letters and numbers all mixed in together) I've sent it in to Whites a couple of times, will seem to work awhile, then revert back. When this happens, I'll pull the battery pack out while still on, then try it with the machine off. I've unplugged the coil, pretty much everything that I can think of to do. I have a feeling that when I send it to Whites, it will work properly, so they are having problems diagnosing what exactly is going on.
Questions...
Anyone else have similar problems not being able to read the screen?
Think it's the motherboard, or the screen itself?
Any info would be appreciated, still love this machine.
