RP and I did some detecting today. We hit an area that dates back to the 1840s. While swinging my detector on an old pathway, I got a nice 50 VDI reading that pinpointed at 4". Out came this nice-looking 1865 Indian Head. My 2nd find came when I got a sharp-sounding high "Dime" reading that pinpointed at 5.5". This target made me fight. I had to dig out many large and small rocks to get down to 5.5". It turned out to be a 1952 Roosevelt dime. My 3rd find of the day came about 20 minutes later. I got a nice 52-54 VDI number that pinpointed at 4". I was happy to pluck this beautiful 1868 Indian Head out of its grave. The coin looks to be in VG shape, maybe a little higher. The "Red Book" lists this coin to be worth $45 in VG condition. Lastly, I found 3 Wheaties to sum-up my day.
, RP had a decent pocket spill: 1 Clad quarter, 1 Clad dime, and 1 1980 Kennedy Half dollar. We were both laughing about that one!
I now have 40 Indian Heads for the year! Bsco, are you going to catch me?
