Silver dime, Indian Heads, and Wheaties

RP and I did some detecting today. We hit an area that dates back to the 1840s. While swinging my detector on an old pathway, I got a nice 50 VDI reading that pinpointed at 4". Out came this nice-looking 1865 Indian Head. My 2nd find came when I got a sharp-sounding high "Dime" reading that pinpointed at 5.5". This target made me fight. I had to dig out many large and small rocks to get down to 5.5". It turned out to be a 1952 Roosevelt dime. My 3rd find of the day came about 20 minutes later. I got a nice 52-54 VDI number that pinpointed at 4". I was happy to pluck this beautiful 1868 Indian Head out of its grave. The coin looks to be in VG shape, maybe a little higher. The "Red Book" lists this coin to be worth $45 in VG condition. Lastly, I found 3 Wheaties to sum-up my day.

:D, RP had a decent pocket spill: 1 Clad quarter, 1 Clad dime, and 1 1980 Kennedy Half dollar. We were both laughing about that one!

I now have 40 Indian Heads for the year! Bsco, are you going to catch me? :D

sweet finds ya gotta love the indians .... ya baby.,, ;D ;D ;D

just curious, what state are you in ??

I am from PA. My goal is still 50. 100 would be too much, unless I hit a few pocket spills.

Nice indians doyboy.

P.a is a killer area to find indians.

I've found hundreds here in pittsburgh p.a.

last year I got 46 of them.

The year before that I found 102.

This year I am only up 22 but I haven't hunted as much this year.

I got alot of other coins so it all evens out.

40 is a nice haul. You'll easily get to 50 by the end of dec.
