Went back to where I was yesterday. About 2 hours gridding, until my back gave out. Silver link or button, a little worse for wear, but I sure like finding them. The ring has a heart on it, sure looks old. Also like to dig the old round balls. Looks like 3 different chape pieces and a couple buttons. Can't wait to get back. I have to take things a little easier now, but still enjoy this hobby. Good luck to all. Art

Looks like a good day of hunting. Congratulations and take care not to over do it

Awesome hunt! That ring looks like a Jesuit heart type late 1600's early 1700's. That cuff is a beauty! Can it be a Tudors rose?

Nice work Art

Very nice finds. Love that cufflink. The button looks like a possible 18th century French marines coat button.

I thought the French buttons had turret shanks, this was a regular loop broken off?
Pre 1730 the shanks were cast and then drilled. Post 1730 they were wire-loop. I don't think the fronts changed much, just the shanks.
I have only dug the cast type. Post a pic of the back. IP should be able to help.
I got in at an early French site once, we hammered it and made some exciting finds. Some of your finds in the last two posts are similar to what we dug.
Here is a link picturing the 2 button designs that I mentioned.

I sure hope so, thanks
I found a giant 8 reales cob at a site we hunted dozens of times over 2 seasons. If that can happen, anything can. Honestly would not be surprised to see a mass coin. Many are found in our area.

Thanks for the info. I have 3 rev war 64 buttons with turret shanks.

Great trifid spoon handle. And yeah, indicative of an early site. With that and your other finds, there's no doubt the site dips well back into the 17th century. Keep clearing - can't wait to see what comes next! Nice cufflink too

Congrats on the silver and the ring, you're onto an early site for sure. Good luck with the back and your return hunt.

A lot of age to those finds.
Nice hunt

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:

Sweet old relics and silver artifact. Sounds like you are walking over some old stuff. May your back come into alignment and cease giving you pain so you can get after the rest of it.
