Hey everyone,
Got going bright and early because I had my eyes on several sites for this beautiful Saturday. First is an old church teardown from the 30s i just learned about. Unfortunately I was a bit late to the show:
Most of the property is fenced off. I worked the outside of the fence line and got a decent signal like a 12-44 2 inches down. I dug down in the gravel and saw a white disc. I thought it was a miscolored memorial, nope! Found a Rosie:
A little while later I got a great quarter signal 5 inches down. Thought I nailed a silver quarter until I looked closely:
Darn Costa Rican coin.
Moved onto my second site of the day a teardown. Unfortunately it was being worked on so I worked some sidewalk strips outside an apartment complex where I picked up some wheats last year. I found plenty more coins but none of them were old.
After a bathroom break at my house I went back out to my last site of the day, a friend's house from 1900 half a mile away. Was pretty bummed at first when I saw the yard had been sodded at one point (I could see the plastic webbing poking through the grass). Only thing of interest I found in the yard was the toy car.
I moved to the sidewalk strips which were mostly slow going. Found a few Wheats, a tax token, and a transit token. I'm digging my last signal of the day, a super choppy 12-38/12-42 at 6 inches. Took me forever to work this thing out of the roots. Turns out it was a Merc on edge!
So nice to get back-to-back multi-silver days. Not sure that's ever happened for me!
Here's the wrap up:
The tally:
-1 Merc (44S)
-1 Rosie (51S)
-3 Wheats (35D, 40S, 58D)
-1 Tax Token
-1 Transit Token
Good luck out there folks!
