A friend of mine found this a few weeks ago and we haven't been able to I.D. it....this is the only pic I have of it...I will be able to take a better/closer pic this Saturday...He said the other side is more worn than this one...I can make out a L on it? Looks like the sail of a sail boat...It rang up silver dime on his Ace350...I haven't held the coin yet...but maybe someone here has a idea..thanks for looking..HH

As steelheadwill points out the "7" numeral in the date and the "OL" (for Carolus) seem to ID it as a 1700's Spanish Colonial silver reale (or half reale) but......does anybody else see what looks like to be armor going way up the neck? That aspect of it doesn't seem to fit a Spanish Colonial bust coin

Over on Friendly Metal detecting forum they have a overlay of a real..and the above coin it's pretty amazing...it's under coin I.D. I'll take pic's this Saturday, but I don't think it will be as nice as what they did...I hope I'm not breaking any rules about mentioning another metal detecting forum..If I am please forgive me.
