I hit a school today just wanting to get out in this great weather. I found a Smith & Wesson Bullseye hatchet, over a buck in clad and a 1942-D Washington for my first silver of 2013.

I think it's just the model name. Looks like a regular wood chopping hatchet to me. It's in remarkable shape. I found it about 3 inches down.

Great hunt and I do think that is a throwing hatchet!

Great finds.recon what that hatchet was doing at the school.

There is a path near the school through a wooded area near where I found the hatchet. I know local Boy Scout troops help clear the paths each spring and fall. My guess is the hatchet was from the cleanup last fall. It's in too good of shape to be out there much longer than that.
