Re: Silver Button ID

William, Duke of Cumberland... a very popular person as of April, 1746. Unless you are Scottish?

See the Conquering Hero, Sweet William, the flower, etc. etc.

Wonderful bit of history there. :icon_thumright:

Re: Silver Button ID

Thanks to Crusader for reading it. After that, it was a no-brainer. Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland was hugely popular after the Battle of Culloden. There were hundreds of prints, commemoratives, etc.

In Scotland, he is still known as "Stinking Billy."

Lucas was spot on with the ID :notworthy: I just had confirmation it is indeed a Button, probably cuff, Commemorating William Duke of Cumberland, the depiction as Lucas said similar to that of his success at Culloden struck on some of his Medals :headbang:

Weldone Cru :icon_thumleft: date was right and a cufflink :icon_thumleft:

Probably 1746–1762 (battle date, and death date).

Once you've seen his commemorative stuff you'll never forget... like I said, a no-brainer. ;D

That is one sweet cufflink, BTW. :icon_thumright:
