Got out today to a "hunted out" spot that I have had some luck at in the past and the first signal is clean crisp high 80s to 90s I dig down about 6inches and out pops this sweet buckle (marked sterling and some other prob makers mark) I think it's a belt buckle but not sure and if anyone knows around how old this style is please share. Few holes latter was the nice ornate thing with the cutout. Any ideas what that is? Then the other buckle and other ornate piece again no clue what the are. All in all an amazing day for me one of my best ever and already my third silver this season!!! Last year my first season I only found two silvers all year. Loving the at pro and this hobby! Thanks for looking/comments.

In my excitement to see the hallmarks I had not even noticed that does look like an anchor! Think maybe ww1? Ww2? The site I pulled it from has produced stuff from the mid 1800s all the way up to like the 50s/60s I think it was a dump site for some time.

Flip it over and I think you've got a T.

Ya I think your right. The other hallmark is hickok and they made lots of silver buckles with letters on them but hey it's still silver! : ) anyone know what the brass or copper plate thing is? It's heavy and looks like it was well made and has good age.

Also any ideas on the other small buckle?

early 1900's late 1800's shoe buckle

Great finds indeed! Congratulations on your very nice silver.

I'd sure like to see a cleaned up pic of your buckle - Nice Find ! I'm about 50/50 on whether that's a T or an anchor -( I'm leaning T)

I plan on cleaning it up a bit. What's the best way with sterling?

I would probably give that buckle a gentle rub with a sponge (no scouring pad ) and some baking soda - or you could try the more passive
warm water, aluminum foil , and baking soda - put the aluminum foil in a pyrex dish , place the buckle on it , cover it with hot water -
add baking soda (teaspoon should suffice )
