This was my last chance on this field & I did 6 hours, including the other trips I must have covered 5 acres for this Roman Silver  (Dad spent the last hour with me but added nothing :( )
22 Roman Bronze Coins - A couple I need
Cracking condition Bronze Roman Key Handle :icon_thumright:
Roman Brooch missing its glass stone

A couple of iron objects which I think are Roman :icon_scratch: I like the saw like thing :dontknow:

Plotted most of the site, so the 4 day extension was a valueable negotiation

Only 2 buttons, as I told Hispan, not all our sites have lots of buttons :laughing9:

interesting objects, nice roman coins  congrats

Is that gilt on the broach back?

Great pieces of history! Definately worth the additional 4 days. Kind of makes you wish you had more, doesn't it?

Its Gold plated all over (at one time), the picture is the front without the stone in the centre.

Conditions were poor as it was still roughly disced & awaiting rolling, so that was plenty of time until a better year.

Cracking silver! Worth the wait :icon_thumleft:

The bronzes aren't too bad either :o

I had been expecting it sooo long off this field, it surprised me, & I was very happy to see it :)

The artefact's were very sparse off this site, but the key made up for it :icon_thumright:

Just a numbers game, and with your numbers it's hard to stay down for too long. With my numbers I hear horns playing in the background.

Kinda is, we expect 50-70 Bronze per Silver, this site was more like 100/1 :-\

But even so with your bronze count so high it's still better numbers than what we have here for our "old" silver. This past Spring was probably the most I have found in a very long time with 4, if I count the Bullhead Shilling.

We are now a victim of our own success. We have never had so many good sites to search, but I have no gold coins this year against 5 last year. Had tons of good finds, but only 1 special (Saxon Mount) & the square hammered, both from a random field which wasn't even on the list :dontknow:

Our first years we did very well, then had a few slack ones, but now it's pretty steady. Ironhorse says he's game to hunt hard this Fall once he has the time so we'll see. (In about 3 weeks) I have very little for ideas so maybe should use that time to create a plan.

I don't mind digging Roman bronze, means we are in the right place, I'll never get bored of that. If I need them for the collection then its a bonus, like 2 new ones today. Its just that I have set the bar too high, so there is always tomorrow :icon_pirat:

That's just like my plain buttons. I can dig them all day long because I know it's just a matter of time before an old military comes out.
