I was able to get out to detect for awhile this morning, I have a wedding to prepare for (not mine, thank God), so I'll keep this short. I headed out to one of my tried and true parks, where I consistently find wheats on every trip (been hunting here for a few years now). The park gave up a 1942 wheat at 8 inches and a 1956 wheat at 6 inches. The cool thing about the 56, is that when I dug the plug, the wheat fell into the hole from its position against the side of the plug, leaving a perfect wheat cent impression on the side of the plug. I mean, full wheat stalks and everything. I thought it was another wheat cent so I went to grab it and of course it disintegrated like the dirt clod it was. I also dug up a nice heavy, small silver ring, at about 3 inches. Stamped 925 with some other hallmark I cannot make out. It rang up as a solid quarter. I wish I can say I dug a silver coin, but I'll take a ring any day.
Total clad for the day was just about $12. Oh yeah, also dug a live bullet.
