Hi all, I have moved to a new location. A gold mining town called Guilford, about 40 mile drive. Not many deep hard rock mines here . Most of the gold was at shallow depths and mined in many different ways. No point looking for gold as what is left is buried under 20 feet of sludge in the bottom of the gullies. The old photos will give an idea of the destruction that was done by mining. I hunted around a few old wash and cook house buildings. The main part of the house was removed to another location after the gold ran out. The buildings mostly wooden structures freestanding. The miners were poor and coinage found reflects this. I managed small silver and some junk but the find i like was a 1930,s Singer Sewing machine card which i found in a pile of rotting and water stained books. A little damaged but still cool. Guilford and area in ther past

Hi thanks for the replies. most of the old pics come from reprinted photos made into post cards in 1904.
