Baldingboy and I snuck out for a hunt. I dug quite a bit of stuff (we went three different places).

I got two silver rosies, '52 and '62, 8 wheats: 35, 44, 45, 46, 52, 54(2), and a 5? the last number is worn past the point of reading.

At the First location we went I dug the side of a cap gun, a small necklace of some kind, a cheap ear ring then got a banging SILVER signal. I thought "Oh Yeah" because we were in an older part of town. Opened the plug up and see the butt of a handgun in the ground. I had great pictures of this but my Iphone decided to delete them, thank you Apple. Anyway The only picture I have is after I washed it off and prior to Baldingboy cleaning it up nicely for me. Turned out to be a 1955 Hubley Trooper cap pistol. In decent shape.

I then found the GM key, looks old to me, maybe late 50s-60s?

We then went to the next location, an old Civil War campsite dug a bunch of junk there, the only things even slightly interesting is the small piece next to the quarter which reminds me of a suspender clip and a tube of lipstick. It's old, its made of copper, but I swear it is a close match to the color of lipstick Baldingboy wears when he detects.... ::) :icon_scratch: ;D :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:

We then moved on to the third location where I dug the two silvers and the wheats. BB found an item at that location that I really love. I'm glad he found it to.

Basically we are both beating our heads against the dry hard ground trying to find OLD silver or something really worth posting for you all to look at.

Thanks for looking at this stuff though.

Nice find! did you think it was a real gun when you found it? toy guns are cool! :laughing7:

Cool finds my friend. SILVER! No matter how small or how old (or not) is still a thrill and a rush to find. Kudos to you! That cap gun is the coolest though. I remember having a gun similar to that one when I was a kid. Those Rolls of paper caps were frustrating to load, and the advancing mechanism inside often didn't work, or worse still... a missfire of one cap setting off several of the following "shots". I can remember that smell like it was this morning. <smile> I liked the wheats too, and the other stuff is interesting, but the silver and the cap gun are the coolest! Thanks for sharing.

~HAPPY HUNTING~

To be totally honest, Yes I thought the gun was real at first. My father carried a S&W 38 Snub nose detective special and this thing is almost the same exact size. At first glance the dirt made the handles look like wooden handles, and I wasn't sure about the rest. It is sad that my pics got wiped because you could really see what I saw if I still had them.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I have tried and tried to find seated coins, barbers, heck anything older than the late thirties but sadly I just haven't gotten that lucky lately.

Frodov my 5 y/o LOVES caps. He has the paper cap guns and the rings. He loves to shoot the heck out of the caps, and yes the smell is unique.

Re: Silver, Wheat, key to the getaway car and a gun

Silver!! :notworthy: And a neat gun, ME! You better look out tho. If BB don't end up with the tube of lipstick then ModernMiner will be begging you for it. :D

Awesome on the finds!!!

Nana :hello:

You dug a lot of signals there. I think that "digger on the end of the pogo stick" you invented is paying off. You did a lot of bouncing there. :tongue3: :D ;D

That's a nice bunch of finds ME! When I told BB it looked like you out did him he said I must of overlooked his CW finds. The confederate ammo case padlock, one of the rare ones that say MASTER on it and his CW condom tin! I shouldn't have doubted him though, I remember all the CW shrapnel he found at the Chisholm Trail hunt that I thought was just shredded aluminum cans! ;D

Seriously, nice day out guys :icon_thumleft:
