Went to a lot yesterday for the first time. And I will definitely be going back! right off the bat I found my first real ring! 10k gold! also found my first silver quarter! great day. A house was removed from the sight some 20-30 years ago and all neighboring houses were built in the 1920s so I am guessing it was from the same time period. Either way the property seems to be untouched as there are hundreds of targets.. I have some time ahead of me there and its only 3 minutes from my office! I found the ring under an old tree that I spotted to be existent in the original houses front yard when the house was still up. I went straight to that tree first thing.

Actually already took the ring to national pawn and they offered $160. I didn't sell it yet. Would you guys recommend:

A)selling it now based on gold prices? or waiting?
b)selling it to a local pawn or going to Midwest or such?

Nice find on that Masonic ring. You need to get an exact weight of the ring. If it's 14k than you have to figure out how much gold value is actually in the ring. 14k=58.5%, 18k=75% and 10k=41.6%. The places who buy gold are entitled to a profit. Even the Bible says a workman is worthy of his reward, BUT, that doesn't mean they have a right to rip you off. Gold is a quick turnover for these places and a fast profit. You should try and get 95% of the melt value, but should never settle for less than 90%. I'd give you 90% in a heartbeat. Need to know the exact weight in grams or dwt to know the value.
Again, nice find. I had a friend find a Masonic ring about 10 years ago.

it is a 10k ring. I neglected to ask the guy at national pawn anything about the weight of the ring. I just said thanks and walked out. He did give me a reciept though it that had a 12.12 2.2 and a 13.13 on it that led to the $160ish number. it was an addition and then a multiplication. I need to check it. I would imagine one of the number represents the weight and one number represents their price

Popular trend shows that gold goes down in the spring/summer and up in the fall/winter.

Nice finds smitty !! I just hang on to all my finds. I tell my wife it's our retirement. That way when I go I tell her time to go add to our retirement fund!!, great job !!!

GOD BLESS!!!!!!
