Silver and GOLD! The Ace250 and I are "one"

I'm really starting to understand my machine. Last few weeks have been really poor for any old coin finds, but man am I racking up the jewelry. The ACE is an awesome jewelry finder, in addition to being really light and easy on the batteries (better than 10 hours so far on my latest set of Duracell AA's). I got out for an hour on Saturday to knock out another 20 or so square yards on the field I've been gridding. First hit in solid nickel range turned out to be a really heavy .925 silver bracelet. Great shape, no broken clasps. Only about an inch below the surface. I can't figure out why it read nickel instead of silver...this thing must weigh more than a silver dollar. The only thing I can figure is that its made of links instead of a continuous mass. Any thoughts?

Two strips after finding the bracelet, dug a little brass bell (junk, but still better than a pull tab). Stood up, stretched my back muscles, and three swings later got a solid hit just a bit higher than a pulltab. Dug the plug, passed it over the coil and ding, ding. Pulled the plug in half and peeking out at me was something gold colored. Now, I've dug shitloads of pulltabs that get a gold colored tarnish....always makes my heart leap. Thought this was the same thing. Grabbed it and gave it a tug, and it wouldn't budge.....Hmmmm? Whats this? Worked it back and forth, and out popped my first 14k ring. Had to head home for chores, but was back early Sunday morning for about two hours. Very first hit, choppy foil range, dug down and saw the end of a necklace sticking out of the side of the plug. Gently pulled it out...junk, but still jewelry. Beats a deteriorated zinc penny any day. Ended up with a bit over 3.00 in clad, too, and a kids hotwheels car.

Hope you all enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed the outing.

Sweet work MP....I don't actually own a 250 but if it's anything like the MXT the nickle/pull tab/RING must have the same propertie's....Maybe someone else can help you out on that one.Either way, does it matter....Big congrat's to ya MP...Excellent dig's....

Re: Silver and GOLD! The Ace250 and I are "one"

Great work! were you in coin mode, or all metal mode when you found these? The ACE250 is an awesome machine. I have one too, and like you, I feel its a part of me. Congrats again, my friend!

Re: Silver and GOLD! The Ace250 and I are "one"

Great finds......I have yet to find a gold ring..found a few costume rings but no gold yet...Gotta love the ace...HH and again..nice finds.

Re: Silver and GOLD! The Ace250 and I are "one"

Civil...thanks. I've got a ways to go to catch up with your finds!

PA- I hunt in custom mode with only the iron discriminated. I've said this before (and feel free to call me crazy), but I think not only do I miss less goodies, but get better depth on everything. Try it, buddy, then tell me what you think!

SC Hunter - This is my first ring....period! I've made two junk ring eyeball finds, but as both of them were plastic, I don't count them.

HH to all.

Thanks everyone. Everyone gets lucky once in a while. I know, because I'm usually the one who reads about it!

I can't even remember how many pulltabs and other junk I dug before I found these, so you have to follow the advice on this forum and dig everything...at least when you're in an area where jewelry is likely.

Some nice finds there. Gold is good!

Soon I'm going to have to take a break from old coinshooting and hit the jewelry scene. I'll probably crash and burn but I gotta try. ;) :D

Mountainplayer,

Congrats on the jewelry. I am still waiting for my first gold ring or necklace to pop out of the ground with my 250. Congrats again!

Just a question though, you mentioned that you found these in custom mode and just discriminated out the iron. Is this the same mode as if you set it in jewelry mode? That is what I usually detect in and wonder if I should make a custom mode.

Thanks and more great finds for you.

Sweeet finds , silver & gold jewelery in one day is amazing so definetly keep searching that area.

Re: Silver and GOLD! The Ace250 and I are "one"

Great job on the gold and silver!
My DFX sometimes reads silver chains as gold too. I'm not sure why. One other thing is, sometimes chains of any kind can sound "choppy".

Keep digging everything and grid back and forth. Then grid on an angle.

Congratulations!

Thanks, Mirage, but if I had an Iceberg I'd gladly leave the jewelry behind....old coins is where its at for me.

Funkman, the preset jewelry mode notches out iron and the cap/foil range, so its slightly different. I probably dig more junk with my custom mode, but I've found several pieces of jewelry that I know would have been discriminated. Once was a huge pewter cross with a big ole crystal in the center...junky, but still fun to find.

Thanks, Ridley. I'm going to try to get back there today for a couple of hours. I'll give it a shot!

Nice one MP......looks like the hard works starting to pay of for you keep it up 8)..TK.

Re: Silver and GOLD! The Ace250 and I are "one"

Nice Hunt! Maybe the silver chain is Silver/Nickle plate, but it dose say .925 Strange...or maybe its the size of the item like you said. Anyway great hunt, WTG !!

Keep @ it and HH!!
