I think I may have cleaned out the local soccer field over the last two weeks. In past months I found 2 gold bands there and now over the last 2 weeks I've found 3 more pieces of gold and silver jewelry. Two rings and a pendent. The small ring is sterling 3.5g, the big ring is a sterling band with four 12k gold leaves laid in and an onyx center stone (7.87g). The pendent is also sterling (5g). Just over 1/2 ounce of silver in the last two weeks not bad. The clad total for the last two seeks was $38, not too bad either.

Time to start researching some older sites to explore now that the skies are blue and days are warm. Time to find some old stuff!

Wow, it took me a year 20 hunts to get that much out of one soccer field. I wouldn't rule out more finds for that location. Perhaps you should give it a break so all those pot holes mend up real nicely.

That big ring is a Black Hills gold ring. The gold used to make it came from the Homestake Gold Mine, in Lead/Deadwood, South Dakota....about 25 miles from where I grew up. It was claimed in 1876 and closed down in 2002. Great find!!

Thanks for that bit of info subchaser. I love getting any sort of background I can on my finds, old or new.

Don't you just love your Xterra. They are such a pleasure to hunt with.

Beautiful ring !
