Well with a big deep freeze on its way tomorrow I forced myself out in a rainy cold muddy evening to try my luck. It was a bitter sweet hunt. I found my fist silver of the year which is great but it wasn’t very old. Then I found my first old military of the year which a also good but unfortunately a let down in the end. The circa 1812 Royal artillery button had potential to be great looking with loads of gold gilt remaining but was unstable and lost most of its gilt in the end. It was still a fun hunt and I found possibly a old silver tip off something unknown and a nice barrel tap/spigot. Thanks for looking and I hope the freeze coming is only temporary! 😁👍

Some kid was probably playing swordfights with that fork and stick....presumably it once was a longer stick.

Nice hunt!
The silver tip thing looks like it could be part of a 19th century mechanical pencil, but it might be a little too big for that. It's hard to judge the scale exactly.

I think you may be right! 🤩

Well done on the button, and a real forking nice barrel tap.

The tip is off a silver “propelling pencil” from the mid 1800s
