SILVER & A REALLY COOL BUTTON
I went out early to detect on my own as I thought Dad was packing for holiday tomorrow. He came looking for me but missed me in the middle of an open field?? So he tried some new land & found the following (Picture 1):
19th century toy cannon
Nice Tudor Button
Early Lead-alloy Button (2 Reg of Foot I think) 18th century - RARE
2 Roman Coins (didn't beat my 6), however he found a Album coin in great condition -Constantine AD306-307 - Camp Gate Rev.
I had a long day & the rest of the pictures are mine.
Pleased with the:
Medieval Casket Key
14th Century Sword belt fittment
RARE - (Brass Cross) Bracteate of The Knights Of The Holy Sepulchre - Early 16th century. Looks like it was re-used in a later life to pin to a box using iron nails.
Very pleased with the NERO Roman Coin Button. Never seen or heard of one, looks to be early construction. When I dug it I thought coin before looking at it, then felt the shank, so thought only a button. On closer look I noticed a Roman head so thought coin again, checked to back to see if they had used a real one. Then thought button again
Got a 1817 silver sixpence
Now the silver broken half is a mystery. It similar to a Geo III Gold Guinea but thats the closest it comes to a real coin. Its blank/smooth on the reverse which makes me wonder if it was a posh gaming token in silver but representing a Gold coin
