I got down the beach around 11 a.m. Worked in a straight line towards the waterline. On my way there along with the normal bottle caps, I dug up a Motorola cell phone. Next to the phone was the leaf shaped earring. More about the phone later. I headed down to an area where a soccer tournament had been held over the weekend. My brother-in-law played in this tournament. His team won the first 2 games on Saturday, but got knocked out of the tournament on Sunday. We (my wife, daughter and I) were supposed to attend Sunday's game but the wife worked late Sat. night and wasn't up to it. I searched a majority of the playing area and the sidelines and didn't find a whole lot. I guess when your playing soccer your not normally carrying a bunch of change. ;D Weaved my way back up the beach. About this time, the cell phone I found starts to ring. It says "Luis calling" so I answer it. I guess I sounded like the guy who owns the phone, because he asked me "what's up?" I asked him who he thought he was talking to, then he asked who I was. I told him I was the guy who found his buddy's phone on the beach. He asked what beach and I told him. I told him I was going to be down here for another couple of hours. He said he would try calling him at home. I got going again and scooped up a crumpled piece paper and rescanned the hole no signal. Now, why would a crumpled piece of paper give off a signal? I wonder...... Sometime later I scooped up a bottlecap, a quarter and 4 pennies in one scoop Yahoo. It was just about time to leave and some bad weather was rolling in. I ended up with 22 quarters, 24 dimes, 9 nickels and 47 pennies. Besides the leaf earring found with the phone, I found a hoop earring near one of the garbage cans. It says 925 Italy :o I got back to the car and tried calling Luis back to see if he got in touch with his friend. The phone service had been suspended. I called him on my cell. He gave me his home phone and I recognized the first three #s as being an area I would be driving through on the way home. I called the number and talked to his sister and told her I had her brother's phone and for him to call me to see where he wanted me to meet him to give it back. That was about 6 p.m. The rest of the evening passed without a phone call. Tuesday morning: I do a reverse number look up on the computer and got George's home address. I get to work( I deliver furniture) and our first delivery is about 10 minutes away from George's. I pull up in front of his house, I see a middle-aged man and a teenage girl(George's dad, sister I presume) in the garage. I walked up and asked if George was in and told them I found his phone on the beach while metal detecting. I handed it to George's dad, George Sr. and he thanked me. I turned around and went back the work truck and left. .

Sounds like you had a great day. Kudo for returning the cell phone. Nice job. Seems to me like George should have been more responsible.

Thanks Ron. Judging by the mess in the area where I found the phone, George and his friends were having a pretty good time.

Nice post and finds! You did a good job and went way out of your way to find the owner, congrats! HH, Mike

Willie,

On the hoop earring, is the 925 on the swinging clasp bar? I found it's exact mate last night in a playground, about the size of a dime. LOL ;D

Nice job on the return... ;)

Hey,Treasure Hunter. Yes, the 925 is on the bar. Mine is about the size of a quarter. I found it sitting right on top of the sand. We had bad weather rolling in, so I think someone left in a hurry. Thanks
