Went to probably like 15 banks today looking for halves and the big dollar coins. And one of the tellers made me die laughing on the inside lol.

Me: Hi, I'm looking for half dollars and the big dollar coins. Do you have any?

Teller A: Do you have an account with us?

Me: No but can you just help me out? I've been looking all over for these and can't find them anywhere.

Teller A: Fine. I don't have any, let me ask the other teller.
(asking other teller) Do you have any half dollars or big dollar coins?

Teller B: Do you mean big like big in size?

Me (shows eisenhower dollar and gives to Teller A) What she's holding.

Teller B: Ya I have some of those, I'll help you over here. So what did you want?

Me: (showing eisenhower dollar) The big dollar coins or half dollars.

Teller B: We don't have any half dollars.

Me: Do you have any of these?

Teller B: No, that is a half dollar.

Me: No it's not, it says 'one dollar' right on the back

Teller B: Oh I think I have some of those. How many do you want?

Me: Whatever you have.

Teller B: I have a lot, how many do you want.

Me: All of them... (does "whatever you have" not mean anything?)

Teller B: (opens envelope and counts out about 10 dollar coins and gives them to me) Anything else?

Me: Can I have those half dollars?

Teller B: I don't have any.

Me: I can see them right there. That coin (points to half dollar)

Teller B: Oh. Here you go.

O.o all that to get some coins?

so did you get any silver or did you put up all that fuss for 10 IKEs and a skunk $0.50 piece? :icon_scratch:

Nope, no silver. Just 10 or so ikes and 5 clad halves from that bank. As a matter of fact, I got no silver all day. Unless there's something in the 50 rolls of dimes I have. All I got was 167 ikes (which I'm gonna use to piss off gas station cashiers haha) and probably at least 300 dollars in clad halves. Kinda disapointing considering how long I spent going to all those banks

This story.....I don't get it.

We all run into tellers like this all the time. We buy, thank them, and move on.....

Don't waste your time time is boxes!!!

Sorry quack' quack' quack' Use your time where you can get coins fast. The more you do the more silver you will find!! quack' Now do you under stand.

I like the quacking, it will help your insanity plea at your trial. And yes, when you actually form coherent sentences it is quite easy to understand what you are saying.
By the way, how exactly is calling me a duck and quacking at me insulting? :icon_thumleft:

The other day that envelope of coins I found had 18 silver dollars (10 peace and 8 morgan). I'm pretty sure its worth the chance waiting a couple minutes for another possible jackpot. When was the last time you found 400 bucks of silver in a box?

I think the point of this is that you made a big fuss, making it awkward for the tellers at this bank when you stared into their drawer demanding a half dollar you knew was was clad. I see you burning bridges very quickly if this is how you are at every bank you visit.

Dumped two skunk boxes at a bank where, a couple of months ago, I had a similar situation. The difference is that I maintain a longstanding and not-too-insignificant account with the institution.

The teller denied that she had any halves despite having a tray with at least $10 in 40%ers. She then proceeded to tell me that the bank's policy was not to redistribute half dollars. WTF? She then started talking about the coin shop around the corner, so she probably was selling them. If that was the case, she needed to get them out of the tray and out of sight.

I'd have been OK if she simply said that she didn't want to let go of the coins, but I won't tolerate such a boldfaced and obvious lie.

When I returned with the dump, I marked some of the roll papers with clues to get her hopes up. She asked if I look for silver. I told her, "No, actually I look for the gold-plated ones. The silver ones are too hard to find and they're not worth very much."

I wasn't looking into her drawer, she took the envelope and dumped it out in front of me on the counter. I wasn't going to go out of my way to ask for the coins and then say no nevermind after seeing they were clad. And I couldn't see all of them anyway so better to get them all to be sure

You've created a scene with 2 tellers in the span of 5 days. Excellent start to your CRH career.
