So I have enjoyed TNet for a few years while I was deployed. The stories of buried treasure were always interesting, but it's the garage sales and thrift shop forums that have brought me the most enjoyment. My vehicles all have an alignment problem, they always pull towards yard sales and thrift shops. I have gotten my wife involved in this and it is our Saturday routine. Out the door between 630 and 7 to the sales. We may stop by a shop or 2 on the way home, depending on the time. Then we are out the door again that afternoon for the auction. We have had so many great scores in the past few years. Some were shots in the dark while some I had already researched and knew would sell. I started out selling 70's and 80's toys. I have since included anything that somebody will buy from me to the list of things I look for. Well the following paintings were a shot in the dark. I found them leaning up against the wall under some hanging clothes in a mom and pop TS. I got them for $4 each. I could see some of the silk is hanging out of the cardboard backing on the back side of the frame and it looks pretty old to me. Also, the cardboard backing is from a Kelloggs box that has a date code from the mid 40's. I worked with a guy from China and had him look at them. He couldn't completely read the writing, but he said it looked like a form of Chinese that has not been used in many a year. Can anybody out there help with these? Even if they aren't old, I'm sure I could find somebody that would give me $10 each.
