Sigh... The honeymoon is coming to an end... But I found platinum!

Well, nothing lasts forever. The terrific site where for the past couple of weeks I've been finding everything from 1732 halfpennies to 1977 gold class rings is starting to dry up. Here's most of my stuff from 3 hours today:

The big round thing is marked QUADRUPLE PLATE WILCOX and research indicates it's probably late 1800s. A couple bullet shells. Old lipstick. Nine toasted wheats (my wheatie to memorial ratio at this spot has been about 5 to 1).A couple of doo-hickeys and a bunch of scrap copper. Over the course of two weeks I probably got about 8 pounds of copper scrap, in pieces great and small.

This place really spoiled me. But if I find some more spots even half as good I'll be a happy man.

Thanks for looking and HH!

EDIT: And how could I forget!? I found platinum today! :laughing7: (I called the 800 number and they cancelled it and notified the owner...)

You have a lock cylinder in there.

Nice finds, like the lock core.

What is the pawn shaped item at 12 o'clock above the round item in the middle? I may have one like it.

The object just to the left of the shamrock is a civil war napsack hook. Nice finds

I'm sorry to hear a good spot is drying up. Looks like you still got some good stuff, however. Congrats and HH!

nice finds !

Not Drying up, just thinning out.

Next step is Slowing down, Listening closer, Digging those Whispers & trash signals,
and finding the real Surprises :laughing7:

Thanks for the comment, Jeff. That's actually the phase I've been in for a few days. I've gone over many spots three times now. That's how I found the 1732 halfpenny, actually. I've been going in all-metal mode most of the time lately with the sensitivity turned way up. I have to say, the Ace 250 is a very sensitive machine for being so inexpensive. I've found tiny bits of copper (like the size of a lentil) 6 inches deep with it.

Good question. I should've put it on What Is It. It's hollow copper with an open bottom and a rusty screw coming through the top of it. It's somewhat rounded on top.

It looks a little like one of my unsolved mystery items. A guy on another forum had one very similar but we never figured them out.

Yeah, pretty similar, but it looks like yours has no iron in it? You've got a rim on the bottom too. Mine may have had a separate fitted onto it at one time; there is some discoloration along the bottom where something may have been attached.

Mine is brass I think. Yeah I guess they're different. I'm just always on the lookout..

Put all that copper and brass in the tumbler and put it on display looks kool.

This is my first post but that looks like an old hand stamp.

From the land of the Bluenose.....good post and PR for the hobby. Everything comes to an end me son!
Thanks, Leslie. So I have to ask since you always seem to preface with it, what is the land of the BLuenose, and why? Thanks.
