Does any one know where I can get plans for a motorized sifter table?
I made a sifter out of a concret mixer by cutting out the sides and putting a lid on it but its still slow. I was thinking of a table type that'll shacke or vibrate pretty quick so you can keep shoveling till its full then dump it and start over

You could use the same mechanical arrangement that's used for the shaker tables in recovering nuggets, pickers, and fines. I saw one in use on Gold Fever. My question is, why would you want to lug all of that equipment to a recovery site? Not to mention the cost of gas. I'm not being a smartalleck(can't spell either) ----just curious. ;D

I cant do water unless I haul the dirt home, I'm in town and cant make a big wet mess. It has to be a dry sifting table that Vibrates. I did cut out a concret mixer and lined it with screen and it works good but if the dirts moist it makes little round balls also you have to fill it, roll it, stop it, dump it then sift agien, so its not the hot set up, Kinda slow.
A dry gold sifter is close to the same idea though, but wieght is not the recovery factor (as in Gold sifting) so a slooped table wont do.
Keep the ideas comeing.
Thanks, Albert

Im Innovating. But the wheels are still turning, brought home some angle iron today. Old goat gave me a idea about using a recipricating saw to power it instead of a motor and cam.
Looks like there are no plans avalible on this, its a whole new game.
I did do a word search on dirt sifter and found a pic of a guy who made one for privy digging, looked good but was a little much (the thing even drove itself like a riding mower).

A reciprocating saw would work or even a jig saw. Either one would have to be a variable speed that you can lock the trigger down and adjust the speed with a thumb dial. If you had a wooden box with the screen, just cut a slot and bend the blade 90*. A small C-clamp or spring clamp might help keep it in contact with the box. :-\

So why can't you modify the design/plans to suit your own needs? Instead of riffles, use 1/4 screen. Instead of an incline, keep the table flat. Don't use water at all. C'mon man, innovate.

This is exactly what I was suggesting with my first post saying to use the same mechanical arragements used by shaker tables. Apparently some neurons misfired and the connection wasn't seen.

for your shaker screen use what ever mesh screen you desire(1/4,3/8) and attach it to a metal frame and stand. then add a winsheild wiper motor with a dimmer switch to adjust theamount of shaking you want.run it off a 12 volt battery. real simple and you dont need plans.

That sounds good rassu but Im thinking Bigger, I want to be able to shovel dirt in without stopping every few scopes to check it (at least 20-50 shovels full).
Mine is taking shape and will have pics when ready. I got close, but found that 1750 rpm was way to many shackes per minute (the thing was walking all over the shop floor till it started busting welds) I am making a Jack shaft to slow it down 4 times and hope thats enough.

Meanwhile heres a pic of one that is a little much, but a pretty cool contraption. This is the only other one I'v seen out there.

This is what I had in mind, I hope to take it for a test drive soon. I s;owed it down probaly about 8 times.

that looks good but you need to cover that electric motor from any magnetic material/wet that could fall on it and get into the motor. also PLEASE put a proper electrical connector on that electrical cord before it rubs through and shorts/grounds out.

I made so of these before for shark tooth hunting. I can either make them for you or tell me exactly what you want and I will draw it and send it off to you. They are really simple to build. Of course mine were wood so that I can carry them but they could easily be made from steel or aluminum.
