Sifted buttons

Found a bunch of bits and pieces this past weekend. This was a local hangout from 1850 to 1890 so lots of buttons have been found here. These are two different materials.....bone and rubber. The rubber button is pretty worn and would have had goodyears patent 1851 on it. The previous week I found an eagle I button from a short union occupation of the same property. This site is about 500 square ft, was under an elevated structure and is now covered with about 18 inches of fill from about 1900. So it takes a lot of work just to find one button.
