I was able to detect a sidewalk tear out today. I found a bucket lister 1857 Flying Eagle Penny ( Bad Shape ), A 1894 barber dime ( Great Shape), a 1864 L Indian head Penny ( Great Shape ), a few buttons, some wheats and some shoe toe taps. I don't get out much to detect due to family obligations but after this I think I'll try to get out a little more.

Happy Hunting

Great job neighbor! (I'm in Binghamton).

Nice hunt, your coins look great & the patina on the IHP is beautiful, congrats on all the saves & HH

The Indian and the Barber are really in great shape. Nice hunt.

thats a great haul!! The Barber and Indian are real beauties! I do love me a good sidewalk tear out :occasion14:

I go to Rochester al;ot but havent had the chance to throw down my coil thats a great bunch of finds Well done those tear outs seem to be honey holes but only for a short time till they cover it back up.

Wow, beautiful coins!

That's a good day anywhere!

Nice job on some great looking coins, and the Flying Eagle also. That is a tough one to find, good shape or not.

Those are not very common dates to find. That Indian cent is probably worth over $200 if the reverse is as good as the obverse! Well done! :icon_thumleft:

That Indian and Barber are in beautiful shape. Some other posted sidewalk tear-out finds have also been in great shape. Do you think the sidewalk itself protected the coins from corrosive chemicals/fertilizer/salt ?

Congrats and thanks for posting the pretty pics!

I would think the nice coins from tear outs are either deep enough or away from the road enough to keep the salt from de-icing in winter corroding them. My son though they must also have been dropped in or close to the same year they were minted in. I think my flying eagle must have got the salt treatment.

The back side of the Indian is just as nice as the front. It one of the nicest Indians I ever found.

Thanks

Nice! I found an 1864 L IHC but some jerk tried to punch a hole in it to make a necklace out of it.
