It was a good/bad day. I stopped at a park that occasionally produces a mercury dime. I start detecting and find two survey stakes about 40 ft apart. They high tone on me and have high VDI numbers. First one is 35 second is 32/33. I keep moving on and 100 ft further get another high tone and a bouncy 33 VDI. I cut a plug and there’s a rock. I’m not careful thinking it’s another survey stake so I fricken nick the edge of a seated 1/2. EB994893-1A31-4383-85B6-12CFF9889010.jpeg8CA02C0B-B6FD-4781-870E-D2AE752711F5.jpeg

Amazing coin. Look at it this way.... were you gonna sell it? If not, just enjoy it. I'm sure Brad knows how you feel. :laughing7: That's a Hoover Boys joke! :tongue3: Just kidding Brad...and major congrats to you CarsonChris!

What year? It looks to be worn or misstruck at the date

I put coins like those in a plastic holder the nicks ect dont show as much. I have been involved in a few stabbings myself but Its still a great coin.

Nick or Not, that’s Sweet!!! Congrats!!!!

Awesome coin n find!! Congrats nicks happen don’t lose sleep over it !

That’s a beauty, it could have been a lot worse

Still a beautiful coin, Nick or not. You Done Good, Congrat's to you on the silver.

Congrats on a fantastic find !

No matter how careful you are, everyone nicks a coin now and then and it's even easier to hit a larger coin.

It's entirely up to you but...
I've gotten good results smoothing scratches / dings out of Silver coins by blending the area in a little with fine steel wool.
It won't make the area perfect but it does help a lot.

Good Hunting !

Great find. Congratulations :icon_thumright:

No one's ever gone nick-free, so no worries. Congrats on a beautiful coin!

We've all done it before. It's still a nice coin and a great find.

Been there and done that as well. Still a nice coin though. Congratulations on finding it.

OMG what a find! I'd take a nicked one of those any day! To tell you the truth I found my first seated dime that was in incredible shape and I nicked it. I can't look at it without thinking about that horrible luck. I'll get over it someday when I forget!!!

That's a great looking coin. We've all done it. (Nicked one that is, not dug one) !

Remember, "Stuff" Happens. Still a great find. I would rather have one with a nick than not have one at all.
