I knew that'd get your attention. :D

Here it is. It fits comfortably within the diameter of a quarter, and looks like it's either made of pewter or pot metal. Dug from a house site that was gone before the turn of the century. Looks like it was originally attached to something...but what?

Possible that it's the part you lift on a pot, also looks like a letter opener top.

Looks like a loose representation of Minerva, who was often depicted with a dragon-crested helmet:

Well, I could imagine Kindafoundabuckle getting a little freaked out when he dug it--face staring back at him in the hole.

Thanks for your help, folks.

Likely never know what it is from--but it's pretty cool.

I guess Tin Soldier is out--probably contemporaneous garb for those toys (not ancient clothing). And I'm certain the piece isn't lead.

You know what, I've seen one like that as the thumb press on a stein, but the angle of the head is different. You'd have to press down on her face.

Thanks for posting BB. I think this one may remain a mystery but it was cool to dig! After my long absence from hunting due to the neck it was fun to dig up a piece of..........well anything metal! Was great to get out after many months watching from the sidelines.

The stein lid was my immediate thought too.
I wouldn't discount the theory;
beer drinkers have long held a peculiar sense of humour ;D

That is Athena, Godess of wisdom I think? She has long hair and wears a helmet. Monty
