Lets see some of your favorite axes since there seems to be an axe theme here tonight. This isn't necessarily one of my favorites....well, yeah it might be, but it's one I've acquired within the last couple of weeks. This is a 1/2 groove Keokuk axe from Lee County, Iowa that measures 7 3/8" long. Ex Carlson, Morast, Filbrandt, Milner, Filbrandt, and now it's mine allllll mine. Hahahaha.

Anyway, thanks for the look and I hope to see some nice axes like there are on the board tonight.

Hippy

the top axe is the beamon axe that was found in Pettis County, Missouri before 1916. It has been in the collections of ed payne, B.W. Stephans, and Tommy Webster. The hematite pocket axe was found in St. Louis Co, Missouri and was in the Harry Franke Collection for many years. The third axe was found in atchinson co, Missouri. If you have any questions just ask.

My favorite would have to the one I just found on December 17th, 2008.

The first picture is the in situ pic. The second picture is right after I cleaned it in a puddle in the field and the last picture is after I got it home and cleaned it up.

The other pictures are my other Axes. I don't have anything to compare to what has already been posted, but I'm still proud of them.

Wow, you guys have some beautiful axes, thanks for posting all of them.

Real nice axes everyone, and thanks for starting the post Hippy! You already have one of my favorite axes though, LOL! I guess the next best one I have would be my biggest axe that I have. Almost 9 inches, and from MO/IL.

badandy

P.S. The first one is the one Hippy now owns!

I think I would have a heart attack if I found somethin like that. OMG I am turning green!

I don't have any (grooved) axes, but I do have some whopper choppers. I believe these are what paleo indians used instead. Am I the only one that thinks this?

This little odd one was a gift , found in So. Calf. but I believe it is from the Pacific N.W. . Now , I don't have a pic. of my favorite axe ,.. just yet . Apparently it's still laying in a field , somewhere back in Iowa !

Ever so hopeful , Blindpig

OK, I have a few grooved axes and celts from here in N.E. Texas, but here is first and favorite. Found it as a teenager swimming in a local lake and having a mud throwing fight with my friends. It still retains the red ocher that it was buried (?) with. Its a full groove and about 5" long.
