I’m reasonably certain this is Tianhuang, it came from the collection of a Mayor for a city in Northern China a little over 20 years ago he was the ex husband of a best friend. I’m uncertain where it falls in relation to the best quality Tianhuang or the price per gram for this stone there is a wide range depending on many different factors.
This is an older carving from sometime during the late Qing Dynasty, measures 32mm wide X 45mm tall X 19mm, thick, it weighs a little more than 30g not including the amber necklace. It is loquat color with a clear skin in many places and has a radish texture and is well carved.
While I know the quality is up there loquat color the most desirable I’m not familiar enough to gauge exactly where this falls in relation to the best stone and small things make big differences in the value per gram?
The overwhelming majority of stone listed on the internet claiming to be Tianhuang is not authentic making evaluations challenging. Pictures are in late afternoon indirect sunlight in doors 10 feet from a window all natural ambient light. Comments welcome.
