Does anyone know of a way to date shotgun shells ?
Was hunting around a church near my house yesterday and the first target I got was a shotgun shell, obviously paper because only the copper back is left.

Although the Church is older, assuming 1930s-40s I actually don't know and would assume that the shotgun shell was fired before the church was built ?

But asking if there is any way to tell an approximate age by the markings on the back ?

Inner circle is punched, above it says NO. 16 (16 gauge ?) sides say US, bottom says CLIMAX
Any help appreciated
