Hello all,

MGM.jpg

I found this corroded brass shotgun shell head on one of my favourite beachcombing sites on a walk yesterday.
Printed on the head is: "MGM MUNITIONS" and two "12"s.

This beach has seen some WW2 action and this shell is obviously spent, so I wonder if this is a recent, salt water corroded just looking old find or an old piece from that era.
I did a small internet research and came up only with this auction site ad for simmilar paper-case shells but I have to get registered to ask the seller a question about the shell's age...

Any munition experts in here able to date this?

Do Google search on "Manufacture Generale de Munitions". I see lots of the shells listed as "vintage" munitions but nothing about the company is jumping out at me.

Manufacture Generale de Munitions must have been in operating in the mid 1800s because i have seen pinfire cartridges made by them ,they went out of business in 1980.
