Take a brass brush and clean off the corrosion and once you can read the entire name, then go to this link:

The No. 16 stands for 16 gauge shotgun and the NITRO-CLUB was one of the types made by Remington, but you need to see the entire name , for help in deteriming the age of that particular casing.

wow i dug up about 5 shells the same but 12 gauge. found them at an old air base and they are remmington

It appears to be a REM-UMC from 1911-1934. They dont have a 16 ga. headstamp pictured but they have a 12 ga. pic. Thanks Don and Rat. I read that link on 16 gauge. The last double barrel 16 discontinued in 1950. I found under this oak tree in South Florida. It must have been used for quail hunting.
