Shotgun shell headstamps 1883 house

Didn't really look at or think about these until I cleaned out my bag from the hunt (found an Indian head and v nickel I posted earlier) turns out they are pretty old.(kinda neat too) I found 6 UMC Co New Club No 12s. The bent up one says Rem Umc shurshot No 16. The nitro club one also has Remington stamped on the side. I'm guessing these are 1890s to 1910s? Any insight would be great! HH!

Cool finds. What I googled was: Union Metallic Co. operated from 1867 to 1911 that was when New Club was made.
It appears as they came from more than 1 gun as the primer strike is off center on some. The last one is 16 gauge which if you used one, you would have a hard time finding rounds these days.

I believe the nitro club one is from around 1912-1913. I have been excited to find two of the same the past couple of weeks.

I found a New Club last week, and then read that U.M.C. actually bought Remington, and then took on the Remington name after 1911, if I remember right. Another cool thing I read was that the shell I found was a paper shell that was sold with only the primer and paper attached. So you loaded it yourself. See if the shell still has wadded up paper on the inside. Mine was circa 1890, and it did!

Yes, they were all paper, still wadded in all of them.

Thanks for the Shell ID link. I had found two a week ago and was now able to ID them both. Very cool. (1 was a Winchester pre 1927 and the other a Rem-UMC that was pre 1934.
